Supply Chain & Logistics
National Manager Supply Chain & Logistics
Coming from a heavily sales focused back ground Mel found herself working in a range of industries in sales and marketing roles from electrical to personal accident insurance, phone packages and a stint in retail running 4 retail furniture stores. Having been involved in recruitment throughout her career Mel really cut her recruitment teeth whilst working in the construction industry recruiting for boiler maker welders, rigging and demolition crews. This led her to take on a 360 recruitment role with a new agency in the Perth market. Joining the industry in the early stages of the GFC, Mel took on a generalist role in recruitment which later evolved to a focus on blue collar workers particularly in the mining sector as the economy began to strengthen.
Coming from a small agency with just 2 offices in the Australian market Mel decided it was time to spread her wings and join an agency with a national presence, and ideally move away from blue collar and specialise in corporate recruitment. Having worked in recruitment for the past 2 years Mel had heard great things from candidates along with clients regarding Sinclair and could align herself with their recruitment vision and company philosophies.
Initially joining Sinclair in 2010 and building the business support desk, Mel came to realise she missed parts of blue collar recruitment and perhaps recruiting for receptionists on the Terrace was not going to be her specialty. Having recruited for transport staff in the past she identified a need for an experienced and reliable recruiter in the Perth market. What started with one very successful client in the shipping industry soon grew in to a challenging and rewarding desk which covers Supply Chain and Logistics in the Perth market. After seeing the success of the division in Perth and interest from national clients Mel rolled out the division on a national level in 2015.
With a very keen interest in all things musical you can usually find Mel enjoying a concert or eagerly awaiting the day tickets go on sale. From the Foo Fighters, through to Beyoncé or Basement Jaxx her first concert was Arrested Development and most recently Mel watched her husband DJ to a huge crowd on boxing day at one of Perth’s premier festivals. When she’s not counting down the days til the next concert Mel can be found enjoying time with her husband and their beloved pooch Harry a very naughty Cavalier cross Maltese Terrier. Spending time with friends and family and showing off her new culinary skills is a regular event as is bringing in treats to her colleagues in the Perth office.
Mel has been dealing with me since March this year and it has been great pleasure and success working with her. She has successfully secured the position as a Customs Broker. I would like to take the opportunity to express how much impressed I have been by Mel’s enthusiasm, efficiency, expertise and communication skills. Also I have been so fortunate and pleased working with her.
As we all know, it is tough employment environment in W.A and it is extremely slim opportunities for Customs Brokers due to the unavailabity of vacancies. Mel has been endevoured to be the first to get the market information through different sources and net works. She kept me updated on the situations of the positions in Perth and made me feel like I wasn’t forgotten at all over the last 6 months. She has been very open, honest and encouraging at all cases and interviews I have attended to make me feel very comfortable with and aware of the possible outcomes. I appreciate all the efforts she has put in for the last half year and helped me secure the postion which I have been longing for. I would have no reservation at recommending Mel to other people in the industry if they would like to find an agent and I would definitely go back to Mel in the future if needed. Thank you again.
